Devin has an interview!

Yesterday Devin heard back from his first podiatry school: the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. He has an interview on December 16! Hopefully we'll hear back from the other schools soon and we'll have two more interviews before we know it. Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes well!

A Burrito Twice as Big as Your Face!

On Friday we went to Maria Bonitas in Orem, one of the absolute best Mexican Restaurants I have EVER been to. I ordered some yummy pork taco-y things and Devin decided to order a supreme burrito. Well my food came, and it looked yummy and wonderful. Then they brought out Devin's. The burrito was the size of the platter! It was seriously about 18 inches long and 5 0r 6 inches wide. It weighed at least five pounds. How do we know this? Well he only ate a little bit, and we weighed the rest of it when we got home. I still can't believe it. It fed us for 5 meals! I wish we had a picture to put up, but the only ones we have are on our cell phones. Maybe we'll send them to ourselves and I can put one up. At any rate, I highly recommend this restaurant. They had the best pork I have had in my entire life; and I'm not exaggerating. For anyone interested, it's on 800 North in Orem, off of State Street. We will be going back many, many times.

Swine Flu

Thursday, Devin and I got our Swine Flu vaccine. After waiting in line for about 30 minutes or so, we got up to the front of the line. While we were waiting we saw at least two children fighting for their life to not get shots. The little boy (about 10) had about 4 people holding him down, and the little girl (about 3) had to be held down by her mom. Poor things! Once we were up, Devin held my hand and I looked away. Luckily, it only took about 30 seconds. I held Devin's hand, and then we were out of there. I didn't have any problems, but Devin's arm was sore for the next day or so. But, we're all vaccinated and hopefully we will not get the Swine Flu!

Exciting Updates

So I almost forgot, but we have 3 items of news that are exciting (well at least for us they are). Last week, Devin began shadowing a podiatrist here in Provo & he really likes it! On Monday, I bowled a 115, a new record for myself (and the crowds go wild)! Then on Tuesday, Devin finished his podiatry school app and submitted it! Now we just have to wait and see what happens!

Happy Halloween!

Yesterday was Halloween. We started out the morning by finding out that we are going to have to spend an additional $350 on our car (which we just spent $412 on Wednesday) to get the knock sensor fixed so that we can pass our emissions test to renew our registration. Rubbish! Oh well. While Devin was busy working on school work, I chatted with friends & family and started cleaning the house & doing laundry. Devin did the dishes and helped me with random things, including running to the store to buy goods for our Halloween festivities. That evening, Jeremy and Sam Keyes came over and we had spiderweb nachos (see picture below) and played games (specifically Pirates dice and Sorry). Sadly, we only had one group of trick-or-treaters, even though we actually had candy this year. So Jeremy, Sam, Devin, and I all enjoyed the candy and my last cake. After the Keyeses left we watched some NCIS and called it a night.

P.S. Surprisingly, our pumpkins were still alive this morning; a true miracle after our last one was smashed a full two weeks before Halloween in broad daylight.

Cake 3!

Sadly, this week was my last cake class. I have really enjoyed my class, and I'm glad that I don't suck at cake decorating! I was a little worried that it would be one of those things I just wasn't going to be good at. Fortunately, none of my cakes were complete disasters :) This last week, we learned to make roses, leaves, sweet peas, and bows. I actually really like making roses and I made about a dozen of them for my cake. This week, Devin made me my cake while I was waiting for the car to be repaired (thanks love!). We ended up with a triple chocolate cake with chocolate mint icing and vanilla pudding filling. We haven't tried it yet, but I'll let you know how awesome it tastes when we do. Enjoy the pictures!

From the side, note the pretty roses
From the top, unfortunately blurry
From the side at an angle. As a side note, the roses were supposed to be red but they ended up kind of coral. Oh well, still looks good.

Homecoming Weekend aka Surviving Midterms aka My Parents Come to Town!

This last week has been crazy; but we survived. Wednesday and Thursday, I studied for and took a midterm and wrote two papers. Friday, I studied for and took another midterm. Tuesday of this week I studied for and took another midterm, and wrote another paper. Wednesday, I took the car in to get fixed and had my last cake decorating class.

Thursday evening, my parents came into town from Reno, NV for BYU homecoming weekend. I didn't get to see them that evening due to the test and it being late. Friday morning, I woke up to Devin's phone ringing and someone knocking at the door. Devin had taken my phone by accident and was calling to tell me that my dad had called my phone. Meanwhile, at the door, was my dad. After spending about an hour with my parents, they dropped me off at campus for class and headed off to run errands and have fun. After classes, I had to study for & take a test, so no time with parents :( That evening, Mom and Dad had an alumni banquet to attend. Afterward, they were planning on coming over but my mom's knees weren't up to climbing up our small stairwell (she needs knee replacements), so no time with parents again :(

However, Saturday Mom and Dad took Devin and I out to lunch (my aunt and cousins came along as well), and then I helped my mom shop for some new clothes while the boys wandered around the mall trying to avoid shopping. That afternoon we watched the game until about the beginning of the 4th quarter. At that point, we decided there was no point in continuing to watch (oh the sadness) and put in Monsters vs. Aliens. Sunday, Mom and Dad came to church with us and the Choir performed. After church, my dad helped me with the dishes (hooray!) and we watched some Cosby Show. Unexpectedly, we ended up having dinner at our place (Devin's Aunt Dana woke up sick or we would have dined at Kenneth's). After watching one of my family's favorite movies, The Trouble with Angels, my parents took off back to my Aunt's for the night. It was great to see them though, and I can't wait to see them again for the Holidays.

Unfortunately, no one remembered to take pictures. Sorry!
