Moving is Shafty Business!
Well we are out of our first apartment. After gradually packing over the last two weeks, and rush packing the night before and day of, we moved out all of our stuff and cleaned on May 14th.
Around 10am people started to show up to help us move, and shortly thereafter, the Uboxes showed up. They looked so small I swore we would never fit all of our stuff into them! So, Brian Davis, Christopher Sharp, Jace Garrett, and Devin all hauled things from our apartment, down to the curb, and into the pods. Samantha Keyes showed up just as I was going to pick up my old roommate MacKenzie Colgan. We all cleaned, and right when MacKenzie and the other guys had to leave, Karly was able to come. Devin went and got pizza for lunch and we kept going. My visiting teacher Brittany came by and took our random stuff to DI (like Goodwill) and we let everyone else take whatever they wanted. With everyone’s help, and the cookies Alisa Sharp made (THANKS GUYS!!), we were able to have everything packed, out, loaded up, and cleaned with at least 2 hours to spare until our checkout.
We sat around on the chairs that we sold to the Keyeses and bequeathed our left over cleaning supplies to Karly. Right before the property manager came to check out, we realized we didn’t have a self addressed, stamped envelope; and the envelope I had left out had disappeared! Well just in the nick of time my other visiting teacher Jessica saved us and brought over a stamped envelope.
Once the property manager came we had to reclean the window blinds (rubbish!) and the tops of the kitchen cabinets (it’s not like people even look up there or like that was done when we moved in), but we were then able to pass and check out. After handing over our keys, Devin realized that he had left his ice cream sandwich in the fridge. So, as the deadbolt wasn’t locked (the manager was going to come back and do that later), Devin broke in using his Smith’s card. With ice cream sandwich in hand, we waved goodbye to our apartment and drove off to Springville.
Here are some pictures of our apartment, as I never got around to putting them up earlier.
