Alaskan Cruise: Day 3

It's strange sleeping when you can feel ship/your bed rocking back and forth (and not the traditional way – meaning your head rocking towards your feet and vice versa). Despite this, I think we all still got a good night's rest. Upon waking up we enjoyed more tasty breakfast on the Lido Deck and then headed back to the girls' suite to soak in more of the scenery as we pulled into Juneau.

Let me just say, Alaska is beautiful! And we were blessed with great weather! Juneau was a lovely little town. Interesting tidbit, you can only get there via boat or plane. You cannot drive in or out of Juneau and get very far (the highway actually just dead-ends after awhile); but it's worth the complication!

We hadn't booked any shore excursions through the cruise line, since they were pretty pricey; so we decided to wander around and see what we could see. To be seen, were lots of shops. It's a tourist attraction, so no big surprise there. Luckily for me, I love little shops! We also found a decent price on a bus tour up to Mendenhall Glacier National Park. Grandma treated the rest of us, and she headed back to the ship to read.

Juneau! And Karly's head :)

World Famous Red Dog Saloon

Love the little terrier!

Molly and the Bald Eagle (All of the towns in Alaska had shops with giant stuffed animals out front.)

Cramming into a bright blue bus like sardines, we headed up the mountain. Our bus driver was pretty amusing (though not as amusing as the one on the way back) and told us all kinds of random facts about the area. Then about 20 minutes later we were at the glacier!

I will let the pictures do the talking for how beautiful it was. We did take the short hike up to Nugget Falls and back and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks Grandma for treating us!

Another squished bus trip later, we were back in Alaska's capital. Devin and I make a quick purchase from the Alaskan T-Shirt Company and then it was back on the ship. Interesting side note – when you go on or off the ship they scan your key card and you put your bags through a metal detector. Mini security!

Look who we found! Who knew she was Canucks fan?!
As usual, the food was AMAZING and we spent the evening together as a family. Devin and I came back to our room to find Steve the Sting Ray.
