Well we made it. Us, our car, and our stuff are all in one piece. On Sunday afternoon, after traffic in Wisconsin (that was caused by nothing), we pulled into the driveway of our new place. We met our landlady, got the lay of the land, and were left to start our new life. Feeling a little bit lonely, we called our friends who live 45 – 60 minutes away and went to visit.
The next day, our U boxes arrived and we started to move in. The aforementioned friends, Emma and Pete Andrews, came over and helped us with the heavy lifting; and afterward we celebrated by going out for deep dish pizza at Gino's East
Over the next few days, we continued to unpack, clean, and try and figure out where all the stores and things are. Everything is considerably more expensive than in Provo (Roma tomatoes are $1.79/lb), but we're learning to shop the sales and find the best places for different items.
We got our Internet set up first thing (huzzah) and have transferred the bills into our name. We're still figuring out what we're going to do about television; but we're thinking we'll just buy more shows on DVD and make due with what is available via antenna and Internet.
Our new Ward (congregation) at Church is very kind and welcoming. By the end of church we had 2 offers for dinner that night, a thing that has never before happened to either of us. Our Bishop and his family had us over for dinner and helped get to know the area a little better. Thank goodness for that!
This next week we need to get the car licensed and registered and Devin will start Orientation. Not sure what I'll do, but I'm sure I'll be busy. Hopefully everything will continue to go well and I'll actually keep the blog updated!
